Liam Harrison vs Isaac Araya Set for Historic Clash as WBC Diamond Belt Takes Centre Stage

Two of the world’s most elite Muay Thai fighters, Liam Harrison and Isaac Araya, are set to face off in a historic bout for the elusive WBC Muay Thai Diamond Belt. The fight, which promises to be a high-stakes clash, will see both men vying for a title that has only been awarded to a select few since its introduction in 2011.

Thai legends Saenchai, Buakaw Banchamek, Phetmorakot Petchyindee, and Singdam Kiatmuu9 - along with internationally recognized champions Jake Lund, Youssef Boughanem, Ruth Ashdown, Kim Townsend, Mehdi Zatout, Valentino Thibaut and Nadaka Yoshinari are the only other athletes who have claimed this prestigious title. Dieselnoi and Samrat were also awarded the Diamond Belt in Mardrid, Spain to honor their contributions to the sport throughout their careers.

Unlike other WBC title belts, it's not mandatory to defend the Diamond Belt.

Isaac Araya, a former WBC World, International and National champion, has built a reputation as one of Europe’s most dangerous and technical Muay Thai fighters. Isaac is looking for a win over Liam Harrison to cement his status as one of the best non-Thai Muay Thai fighters of all time. This would be a career-defining achievement for Isaac, especially after narrowly missing out on a WBC Muay Thai Nai Khanom Tom belt back in 2014 where he made it to the final of an 8-man tournament.

Araya has shared the ring with fighters such as Nuenglanlek, Haggerty and Seksan.

Liam Harrison, also a multiple-time world champion, is regarded as one of the most explosive and hard-hitting fighters in the sport. He is arguably the most known Muay Thai fighter to come out of the UK to date. With his aggressive style, Harrison has been a staple of the sport for over two decades, with more than 100 fights under his belt. Initially penned as Harrison’s ‘last dance’, set to take place on March 3rd, Liam recently announced on social-media that he will be returning to fight on ONE Championship again in the summer. Saying “We’ll go one fight at a time and decide how I feel.” 

In an interview with ONE Championship, Liam talked about following a similar path to Sam-A by taking more time off and staying injury free.

With ONE Championship’s CEO Chatri Sityodtong recently expressing interest in holding a ONE event at Wembley Arena in London in 2025, "The UK genuinely has some of the best fighters on the planet." It would be great to see Liam Harrison fight again on home ground with the full force of the UK behind him. 

The bout will be the main event on Liam Harrison’s ‘Hitman Fight League’ promotion which will take place on Saturday, 8th March 2025 in front of a sold out Bowlers Exhibition Centre in Manchester.
